The Devil and Me

By Ralph Spurgin

The devil smiled,
and slapped me on the back.
He laughed uproariously,
and said that he was happy that
I had finally arrived.
“Welcome! Welcome!
We’ve got something special in mind.”

It’s got air conditioning and a throne,
and three or four ladies
to keep you from feeling alone.
You’ve done the Devil’s business,
and we certainly appreciate it.
So, we’ve got something special in mind.

Here - go with my mistress, my hostess,
to the places she’ll take you.
You’ll find a finely set table
with all the delicacies you’ve dreamed of.

Here - take this nubile lovely.
She’ll take you places, too.
Then come back and see me.
We’ve got something special in mind,
just for you.
