the deadline,
the deadly disease.

to a door of your choosing
and walk across the threshold.
Beat   
the eggs for that soufflé 
you ate with them
(it’s all in the wrist).
Beat
the devil
in whatever guise
they inhabit.
Don’t quit
no matter the beating.
