John Carenen, a native of Clinton, Iowa, graduated with an M.F.A. from the Iowa Writers Workshop. His work has appeared in popular and literary magazines, and he was a featured humor columnist in North and South Carolina newspapers. His debut Thomas O’Shea darkly humorous thriller, Signs of Struggle (2012) was followed by A Far Gone Night (2014) and The Face on the Other Side (2018) continuing the exploits of the enigmatic protagonist in the picturesque village of Rockbluff, Iowa. He and his wife live in their cozy cottage down a quiet lane just north of Greenville, SC. He is a fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and Boston Red Sox.
