grew up in central and western Oklahoma, the son of a jazz musician and a school librarian. Chris has played the saxophone since he was knee-high to an armadillo, and made something of a name for himself playing, teaching, and writing about strange and obtuse forms of modern jazz. He’s been published by a variety of publications, including Ms. Magazine, Jazziz, JazzTimes, and The All Music Guide. He currently lives in Dutchess County, NY, with his wife Lisa, son Jasper, and daughter Meret. His first novel, “Where the Hurt Is,” was published by Black Rose Writing in 2018.
