Carrie Smith

Carrie Smith grew up in the suburbs of Detroit, Michigan and attended the Residential College at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor where she majored in Creative Writing and Literature. Carrie is the recipient of three Hopwood Awards for Fiction as well as a fellowship at the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown. She has been a finalist in Nimrod Magazine’s Katherine Anne Porter prize for fiction, and she is the author of a literary first novel, Forget Harry (Simon & Schuster).

Carrie moved to New York City in 1981. By day, she is the Senior Vice President, Publisher of Benchmark Education Company. She lives on the Upper West Side of Manhattan with her partner and nineteen-year-old twins. Unholy City (Crooked Lane Books) her third Detective Claire Codella mystery.
