Bill Rapp began his professional life as an academic historian on Modern Europe but after a year of teaching decided to pursue a less sedentary career. He spent the next 35 years as an analyst, diplomat, and senior executive with the Central Intelligence Agency, where he continues to work part-time as a consultant and trainer. He prefers to spend as much time as possible on his writing, however, and currently is working on the Cold War Spy series with his publisher Coffeetown/Epicenter Press. The Budapest Escape is the third book in the series and is preceded by Tears of Innocence and The Hapsburg Variation. Bill also has a three-book P.I. series set outside Chicago, where he grew up.
